i admit image of the air horn amuses me. But if you are riding your bike and want a quick or uninterrupted pace you are on the wrong bridge. The north manhattan bike lane is where you should be. If you're going to behave like you own the path just because there is a bicycle icon painted on that side of the line and you should be able to travel unobstructed then you are acting like the truck drivers you mention. If you believe in critical mass then please acknowledge that pedestrians are the critical mass during the day and you need to adjust your riding technique. 7am and earlier you can ride the brooklyn bridge unmolested. Ride smart. Great blog post. It made me laugh.

Marlo, you make a good point. I am so into cycling that I am not looking from the other side of the tourist enjoying their stroll. I feel bad for being "aggro" as you say. However, I still need to be able to move around on my bike and as there is no other way to get to Manhattan in the same area as the Brooklyn Bridge, I need to be able to move around. Either way you look at it, I can still get angry whether I am being an asshole or not.

why not let those "mindless tourists" enjoy their spectacular stroll on the bridge instead of acting like a stressed out aggro. get a dinging bell, slow down, add a few seconds to your trip. big fuckin deal. and you won't feel like a total asshole.
